December 28 (THEWILL) – Manchester United have turned down an offer from Sevilla to sign Anthony Martial on loan until the end of the season. The La Liga club had offered to pay half of Martial’s monthly salary of £ 240,000.

However, United are reportedly interested in a deal that pays his entire salary plus loan fees.

This is a consequence of the events of last week after Martial informed interim head coach Ralf Rangnick that he wanted to leave Old Trafford, although United have yet to make a final decision on whether whether or not to approve a transfer.

It is claimed that if the desired conditions are not met United are ready to keep the France international beyond the January transfer window. Yet there are still no definite plans for Martial to play as the 26-year-old was not part of the United squad in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday.

He has made four appearances in all competitions, scoring once. “We spoke at length on Wednesday,” Rangnick said last week.

“He explained to me that he’s been at Manchester United for seven years now and that he thinks it’s a good time to change, to go elsewhere.

“I think in a way it’s understandable I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand it’s also important to see the situation at the club.

“We have COVID-19 times, we have three competitions in which we still have big ambitions and want to be as successful as possible. “
